Album review by Paul Clarkson.
Castle Music CMETD 1078
I’ve always thought that if I’d been born 10 years earlier I’d have been a Mod. This superb collection from that era is a must for any Mod music fan, it’s a truly great compilation from all the great Mod groups that recorded on The Immediate label in the 60’s. It surpasses other collections from that era by including many lesser known songs and LP tracks from bands such as The Small Faces, P.P. Arnold, Chris Farlowe, Amen Corner and Twinkle. Competition was hot for chart success in the 60’s and there are some lesser-known acts included in this set who didn’t have prolonged stardom such as Joey Vine, The Poets, Apostolic Intervention and The Fleur De Lys. This 3 cd box set comes with a stylish booklet with pictures and stories about the groups and singers. Buy this and you will be transported back to an era where the music was as important as the fashion of the day, it has that 60’s feel from the beginning to the end.
