THE FEST FOR BEATLES FANS
(Formerly Beatlefest)
PETER & GORDON REUNION!!! - SATURDAY ONLY - APRIL 1.
We are so thrilled to present the legendary PETER & GORDON in their first US Concert appearance in 39 years (This follows their brief cameo appearance at a benefit in a NYC club last August.). This will be on Saturday, April 1st ONLY. They will be together all day - speaking and signing autographs. And in the evening they will perform their reunion concert (backed by Liverpool)! Though Peter Asher is only able to join us on the Saturday - Gordon Waller will be on hand all weekend and will participate in the festivities on Friday and Sunday. Peter & Gordon are one of the most succesful duos in rock's 50 year history with 9 Top Forty hits. Four of their major hits were written for them by Lennon/McCartney - A World Without Love, I Don't Want To See You Again, Nobody I Know and Woman. After they broke up in 1968, Peter became the head of A & R for Apple signing, producing and managing James Taylor. Gordon's solo career includes starring in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
A FEST FOR BEATLES FANS THIS APRIL IN NEW YORK
• LEGENDARY POP DUO “PETER & GORDON” REUNITE
• BEATLES ENGINEER GEOFF EMERICK SPEAKS OUT
The annual NY-area convention for fans of the Beatles takes place the first weekend in April just outside New York City – close to Giants Stadium. And the 32nd annual confab will be a treat for Beatles fans of all ages and generations. With first-ever convention appearances by several people with close associations with the Fab Four.
It will boast the first full US concert appearance in 39 years of legendary British Invasion pop duo Peter & Gordon – who racked up 9 Top Forty hits 1964-1967 – including four songs written specially for them by John Lennon & Paul McCartney. “World Without Love” “Nobody I Know” “I Don’t Want To See You Again” “Woman”. Their last concert appearances were in 1967 and they broke up in 1968 – after which Peter Asher joined The Beatles’ company Apple Records as Head of A&R. (In which capacity he signed James Taylor to the label.)
The duo made a cameo appearance at a NYC benefit at B.B. King’s last August for Mike Smith – the writer and lead singer for 60’s band The Dave Clark Five (recently paralyzed in an accident.) Their 5-song set was very warmly received and led to the invitation for a full-scale reunion appearance. In addition to their performance – Peter Asher and Gordon Waller will appear “in-conversation” with convention host – humorist and Beatles scholar Martin Lewis.
Because of prior commitments - Peter & Gordon's joint appearances will all be on just one of the weekend days - Saturday April 1st. However Gordon Waller is able to be there for the entire weekend - and will make personal appearances on both the Friday and Sunday
Also making his first-ever Beatles convention appearance will be legendary Beatles recording engineer Geoff Emerick – who as a young engineer worked closely with the band on their breakthrough “Revolver,” “Sgt Pepper” and “Abbey Road” albums. His eagerly-awaited memoir “Here, There And Everywhere” is due to be published in mid-March by Gotham Books - an imprint of Penguin Group (USA)
Other guests at the convention include:
• Original Beatles drummer Pete Best (1960-1962). Best will talk and play music with his group The Pete Best Band.
* Longtime Beatles publicist Tony Barrow – who handled their press 1963-1968.
• Longtime record producer for Ringo Starr, Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne – Mark Hudson (formerly one of the Hudson Brothers.) Hudson will attend with Gary Burr – a longtime member of Ringo Starr’s “Roundheads” studio band.
• Former Wings guitarist and solo artist – Laurence Juber
• Larry Kane – author of a recent John Lennon biography -"Lennon Revealed".
• Joshua Greene – author of the new Harrison biography “Here Comes The Sun”
• Bruce Spizer – author of multiple books about the US record releases of the Beatles
